A tale of heroism
Flight of the "Kurana"

At 7:40am on Monday, November 8th 1948, the "Kurana" a Douglas DC3 aircraft; clipped the tops of the trees on Mount Macedon. Cloud and misty rain reduced visibility on the mountain, leading to the crash.

The memorial information board (erected exactly 50 years after the crash) is only 50 metres from the Memorial Cross gatehouse and sits quietly at the location of the crash site among the trees.

Take the path to the Memorial Cross... 50 metres in, follow the "Kurana Memorial" sign on the path to the left. The display is approximately 150 metres further down the track.
